How the brief was fulfilled

Bold colour and shape create the edge in this commercial fine jewellery collection. Bright orange carnelian gemstones in an atypical bullet cabochon shape were the inspiration. Highly polished, convex-cut, unfaceted gems are surrounded by fully faceted, lab grown white diamonds for contrast and set in recycled 9ct yellow gold.

The pendant cap has a chamfered edge leading to a wide rim with 6 evenly spaced flush set round diamonds. The caps are set to hold the carnelian in an ‘upside down’ bezel setting. The drop earring has a simplified ring that dangles from leverback ear wires. Edge Only’s ‘E’ brand mark replaces a diamond at the back of each drop earring providing space for a hallmark.

In reverse, the diamond set ring bezel holds the carnelian stone upright, creating height and drama in a wearable statement. The underside features a brand mark and Irish hallmarks. Design allows for gemstone variation.

Date Launched: September 2023

Produced using jewellery CAD/CAM, hand finishing, bezel setting and flush setting techniques. Hand sketches were fine tuned in CAD, branded and 3D printed in wax. The wax prints were cast in sterling silver, hand finished and polished to create master models for moulding and production.

Manufactured using 100% recycled and refined 9ct gold through lost wax casting and hand set in Kildare, Ireland. The natural orange carnelian gemstones are in a bullet shaped cabochon cut in 6x6mm and 6x8mm sizes. Bezel set in gold, the drop earrings, ring and pendant are surrounded by evenly spaced, 1 point, flush set, round brilliant cut, lab grown diamonds. Hallmarked 375.
