Design Challenge and Design Ideas

“Fighting Blindness are an Irish-based charity whose vision is to cure blindness, support people with sight loss and empower patients. They wanted to run a creative campaign that carried an optimistic and hopeful message, informing the public that their investment in blindness research is working in generating new ways to restore people’s sight.

Fighting Blindness were keen to see colourful, punchy and even playful imagery that would say to the public that ‘the research is working, help us to keep it going’.

We wanted to express in a clear, clever and accessible way how scientific research can make the impossible possible in restoring people’s sight.”

How the brief was fulfilled

“Using simple conceptual illustrations, we developed a series of playful images that combined scientific icons with scenes illustrating the wonderful benefits that can come out of sight restoration treatment and gene therapy.

Stargazing, visiting an art gallery or simply looking at nature; these simple activities we take for granted can be made possible through funding scientific research. The visuals are clear, accessible and have a clever double meaning that fuse together images of scientific research and hopeful scenes that express delight and awe in sights of nature, art and the physical environment.

The ‘Make The Impossible Possible’ artworks formed part of a nationwide out-of-home and social campaign as a JCDecaux Ireland Charity of Choice for 2020–2021”
