Design Challenge and Design Ideas

The Roaming Writer in Residency programme is an ‘Irish Writers Centre’ initiative. Travelling from north to south on our railway lines, the Roaming WIR listened to voices and conversations of people on the trains, accumulating stories and building a treasure chest of potential workshops or essay ideas. These 6 postcards were designed based on these ideas.

How the brief was fulfilled

The brief was to design a series of postcards based on the overheard conversations detailed above. I endeavoured to distill the essence of each of the stories using typography I felt was appropriate to the narrative. Each postcard was required to stand on its own but also to work as part of the set/series.
