How the brief was fulfilled
RE-PETE is a modular luxury fashion label founded by Irish designer Katie Walsh, focused on creating beautifully crafted garments rooted in circular economic principles. It was launched in 2021 under THE RE-PETE PROJECT (TRP) community (also founded by Walsh in 2020), which earned B Corp™ certification in September 2023 with a score of 125.7, meeting the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. TRP also organises monthly community beach cleans and hosts guest lectures at universities.
RE-PETE blends high-end design, innovation, and engineering to drive the fashion industry — and the wider economy — toward a circular model. The brand is non-seasonal, offering versatile, durable, and timeless pieces. Our design process prioritises circular fabrics, treating them as the foundation of the collection, rather than an afterthought. All garments are produced in Europe and the UK, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship. Additionally, we dedicate 2% of our revenue to supporting the Ocean Cleanup non-profit plastic clean-up organisation.
Company information
Katie Walsh was raised in Dublin before moving to London in 2000 to complete a BA Hons degree in fashion design at Kingston University. After a spell at Alexander McQueen honing her pattern-cutting skills, she set up her multi-award- winning label, Poltock & Walsh, which she ran for 8 years showing at New York and London Fashion Weeks. Her designs featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Interview, WWD, and FT, and worn by internationally acclaimed women including Rihanna, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller, Florence Welch, Emma Watson, and Róisín Murphy. In 2013 she took a step back from fashion to focus on family.
Six years later, Katie began extensive research into how she could use her fashion knowledge to create a label that could make a positive impact on the natural world, a journey that has taken her into the heart of the circular economy.
Collection / Design
PE-PETE is produced between Europe and the UK. Our European recycled fabrics takes waste such as single-use plastic, recycled wool jumpers and factory floor fabric scraps, into circulation. We have partnered with regenerative farming projects, through using banana textiles from an organic restoration project in the Philippines and Turkish regenerative organic cotton. Our fastenings are handmade in London from used coffee cup lids and milk cartons donated by local cafés. Our take- back system and minimalist mono-material design simplify recycling, allowing each piece to be easily broken down, remade, or composted, ensuring that nothing ends up in landfill and supporting the regeneration of our ecosystems.
"
The simplicity and versatility of this collection is refreshing. Functionality and longevity of the pieces seems core to the brand identity which immediately takes you outside the traditional trend focused fashion cycles. Really love seeing this from an Irish designer.
The use of so many innovative recycled products from waste and the engagement with regenerative farming practices is to be commended and sets good standards for others to follow.
