Design Challenge and Design Ideas

My name is Ais Brady, I’m a Dublin based graphic designer and filmmaker. My background is in advertising & marketing – I then went on to study Visual Communications.

I was one of the original founding members of the artist collective SUBSET. During my time there I designed and art directed large scale murals and various interior design projects.

In 2017 I left the company and decided to engage in my own personal ventures, including design, photography and filmmaking.

Currently, I’m working on a self-initiated project entitled ‘ALL KINDS’ which is a curation of creative work that was made during quaratine. It will exist as an online exhibition and also as a curated art publiciation. It will include over a 100 artists from a wide range of disciplines including — painters, poets, illustrators, choreographers, filmmakers and sculptors. Our hope is that the project will live on as an artistic timecapsule from the recent pandemic.

As I begin to find my feet as an artist my hope is that I can continue to find things that excite and inspire me. ALL KINDS has been a revelation for me; a realisation that creativity can exceed boundaries in the face of great adversity. It’s showed me the importance of creation – in the whole – but also it’s necessity to keep us inspired and most importantly; connected. The collective functionality of this project has given me a home. Something that has united me and my fellow creatives and designers and really inspired me to push further and create more.

I think that’s why this award would mean so much to me. I feel it could ignite the next section of my career and give me the confidence to challenge my own bounadries. I think I would be bolstered by it, allowing me to be braver and to create more work – on a personal level, but more importantly with a view to continue my collective projects. Because for me, I think that’s where the true beauty in craft and design stems from – artwork in the collective.
